I’m a 25 year old Software Engineer living in Sunny Brisbane. I think software is the the way I’ll make the world a better place. Machines do the work, so people have time to think.
I’ve been coding solidly since leaving highschool in 2001. My first language was Logo, in 1994, but since then I’ve played with everything from Ruby to C#, detouring through Java, PHP, Scheme and Haskell. Working as a “Fix This Shit Now!” guru has that effect.
I’ve worked as a Consultant, an Automation specialist, a Precedent creator and a Support engineer, not to mention 5 years selling deli meat. Like most Bright Young Things, the web is where I spend most of my time, either hacking shit together or fixing someone else’s mess. I don’t mind it, it makes it easier to make users happy.
When I’m not playing video games or cooking, I’m managing my beehive, gardening, taking photos, being a Venturer Leader or simply lounging around. I’ll make you cookies at the drop of a hat, and I’ve spent far too much time mentally preparing my house for a zombie apocalypse.
I still can’t fly.
